In Miyapur, Hyderabad, a group of us Bengalis often spoke about one thing — “Bhalo ilish kothay pabo?” (Where can we get good hilsa?) or “Posto ar radhuni chara khichuri hoy naki?” (Can khichuri be complete without posto and radhuni?)
The answer was always the same — either too hard to find, or not authentic enough. That longing for real Bengali flavorsbecame the seed that grew into Gram Bangla.
